How Not To Die At The Dentist

The Sunday before last, my cracked tooth started hurting. If you’ve ever had a toothache, you know how dominating it can be. It’s hard to even think at times. But… we were leaving on vacation on Wednesday and that didn’t leave a lot of time to fix things. I called the dentist and they assured me they could get me in and take care of it last Tuesday.

Tuesday I went in and was informed that not only did I need a root canal (!!) but the dentist that does those would not be in the office until this week! At first they said they could either give me antibiotics or send me to another dentist (in Fayetteville, 40 minutes away) and they could do the root canal so I wouldn’t be miserable on vacation. Getting it done soon sounded pretty good to me, but then they said the other dentist wouldn’t have time to do a root canal. They could do an “IND” where they cut your gums to relieve the pressure until a root canal can be done. The problem is that it wouldn’t fix the problem, it would be quite a bit more expensive AND it would be in Fayetteville. So I opted for antibiotics and a root canal Monday.

There’s Always Tomorrow

Since my beautiful little Avelea came into our lives, things have been hectic. Crazy. Scattered. Chaos, really. Like space was before God spoke things into existence. Formless and without structure. So, for my own sanity, I’ve been trying to establish a new normal. Coming up with a routine is difficult, sticking to it, nearly impossible. Some days are better than others. But, luckily, I’ve had some encouragement from one of my new favorite blogs. I’ve started reading daily and found that she has some very helpful tips.

For starters, she’s doing a month long spring cleaning daily task challenge. I haven’t done a single daily task… but I decided to start with the beginning. That’s usually a good place to start, right? Each day’s assignment starts at the beginning: getting dressed. I have to admit, that right there has been a challenge in and of itself…

Spiders and Yoga

Last year, we had a spider problem. A brown recluse spider problem, to be exact. We had someone come spray and we set glue traps and I haven’t seen any since then…. but they are recluses. Last night, I found one… in the nursery. My first thought was, “Oh God, that’s where my baby sleeps!” Although it was already dead when I found it, all night I had thoughts of worry that she was being bitten in her sleep and that I wouldn’t know about it until it was too late. Finally, I had to say, “Oh God, that’s where my baby sleeps! Please take her in your hand because they’re much more capable of protecting her than mine…

A Blog About Blogging?

Recently, I became aware that people blog full-time (or even part-time)… meaning, they make money to share their thoughts with the world. I mean, I guess I knew this existed, but it never occurred to me that these could be normal people, like my Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law (who have a DIY blog that could potentially make them some money).

Working from home on 2 part time jobs, this is especially intriguing because I would love to stay home with my little lady, but one income is simply not enough…
