We decided that since I wouldn’t be with my family for Thanksgiving, we could go make our fall visit in late October. We got to hang out with my parents, one of my little sisters, my brother’s family and my grandma.
Four generations: Bahr, Pape, Warren and now Bayer girls.
Friday night, Avie went to her first football game to watch Aunt Erica march in her last high school half-time show. Sadly, our camera battery died right about that time, so no pictures.
But despite that, and the bitter cold, Adam and the rest of us had fun! Hot cocoa was definitely in order after we got home.
Saturday night, we decided that rather than the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, we would stuff ourselves with as many fun recipes as we could find on Pinterest. It’s dangerous, I know. We ended up making Bone Fish Grill’s Bang Bang Shrimp, sweet potato fries, and Auntie Anne’s pretzels. It certainly took us a lot longer than expected. The point wasn’t that it all went together, but that it was delicious.
We all took turns “flinging” the pretzels around like they do at Auntie Anne’s. So fun, and makes for some crazy photos! We were going to have waffled brownies with ice cream afterward, but we were all so full that we ended up only having ice cream… much later.
We also played a very fun game, called Dominion. I know it sounds intimidating, but basically it’s a strategy game with a special set of cards. Your goal is to gather as many provinces, estates, etc., as you can to win the game. It’s supposed to be a 2-4 player game, but we had 8 people… so we improvised and played teams. I don’t think it’s really supposed to be played that way, but it worked for us!
Love spending time with the fam!
