The end of a trimester

13 weeks today! It seems as though time is flying. I’m trying to savor each moment, but it’s hard to do when the moments are filled with nausea, headaches, exhaustion and still not quite certain that there’s really a baby in there. I mean, I still can’t really see anything popping out just yet, and I definitely haven’t felt anything. Maybe it will be easier with the start of the second trimester, which will be next week!

The most annoying thing, so far, is that my hips hurt no matter how I sleep. I’m not supposed to sleep on my stomach or back, so I have to sleep on my side… but then my hips just ache. I’ve tried almost every position I can think of, I have a nice new body pillow that I sleep with in between my legs, and still no relief. At this point, I’m just glad that I don’t have a job I have to get up for early in the morning so I can roll around and find a few minutes of sleep here and there.

On a different note, last Saturday I got up nice and early (ok, 7 isn’t that early, but still) and went garage saleing… or maybe I should say I attempted to go to some garage sales. In an hour I had found maybe 10 total in all of Siloam, and most of them had absolute garbage. Only 2 even had baby stuff (hello, where is it all? am I way too late?) and one of them wanted waaaay too much for the stuff they did have. Most of the rest of them were piles of middle aged men’s big baggy T-shirts. Who wants those? And for a dollar? Seriously? Wow. It was a sad day. Maybe next Saturday we will have better luck.

And on an entirely different subject, my inlaws have come to live with us for a few weeks while they decide what to do with their housing situation. They have had an offer in for a short sale (short, ha, more like LONG) for 3 months and still haven’t really heard much of anything. They had to move out of their married student housing, seeing as how they have graduated and are not students anymore, so they have come to live with us. One might assume this is a dreadful proposition due to the stereotypes typically given to inlaws, but actually it’s been quite nice so far. We happen to get along with each other quite nicely. It helps that we don’t have to share a bathroom. I’m sure by the end, they will just be ready for their own space, but I love having people at our house. I think I have the spiritual gift of hospitality, or something, because I always want people to be at my house. So, for me, it’s wonderful. And Seifer gets twice as much attention, so he’s pretty happy too.
