Ok, I use that term “recent” loosely. Some of these have been done for a while, like well before Christmas.
A friend of mine had a gender reveal party/baby shower. The twist was that all of the guests found out ahead of time (so we could properly shop and shower) but they had no idea until the day of. They walked into a very BLUE room to announce they are having a bouncing baby boy! I wanted something more personal and fun. So I made these. They’re pretty simple, but so sweet and easy to customize. I did the Arkansas “A” for the Razorbacks (whoo pig sooie?) and some zigzags for the chevron. I used this tutorial. I did a couple of things differently. Mainly, I cut the shape out of the adhesive first, then I ironed it onto the felt and then cut the felt. Maybe that’s an extra step, but it seemed more exact to me and less likely for me to mess up.
I also made my “little” sister a purse for Christmas… using this incredibly helpful tutorial. This is the zipper pocket (on the inside… before it was the inside).
This is the slip pocket (again, on the inside… before it was the inside). It fits a phone and a pen/pencil.
Apparently, this is the only picture of it finished. :( But this is when she opened it! It’s black and all business on the outside and colorful and fun on the inside. It has an outside slip pocket as well and an adjustable strap.
For Ansen’s littlest sister, I made several skirts. I also forgot to take pictures of them. But this is one. I used this tutorial. That tute is more for a little girl, but I actually found it through another blog that had made one almost exactly like this as a copy cat from a J. Crew skirt. Much more adult for an early teen. I also made one of these using a black moleskin fabric with white and grey polka dots and black elastic. I modified it slightly by sewing wrong sides together and then sewing the elastic down to the fabric with a double needle so it wasn’t super poofy. Lastly, I made her a black jersey yoga top skirt, like this one.
I have several other sewing projects that I can’t wait to get started on… but my first matter of business is redoing the office/guest room! I’ve made some progress and I’ll let you in on a little secret, I bought a few new pieces of furniture! But that’s another post!
