To a Strong Woman

My great grandma, Billie “Joy” Knight, was a strong woman. Though most would think of her as sweet, kind, shy, maybe even soft, I chose to remember her as strong. Hers was a quite strength, not one that was boisterous or crazy. No, that was her partner in crime, grandad Ted.  She married her best friend at the young age of 16 and loved him until her last breath at 85.

15 Minute Miracle

Ok, not literally, but it’s amazing what you can do in 15 minutes! I have recently discovered the 15 minute clean and rediscovered the “power nap” and it has made quite an improvement to our days.

First of all, here’s how the 15 minute clean works: once the baby is down for their nap (especially if they take a few minutes to cry themselves to sleep like mine does), pick one room that needs to be picked up, set the kitchen timer for 15 minutes and get to work. When the timer goes off, you can keep cleaning if you feel so inclined, but even if not, you’ve probably done quite a bit. A little bit each nap adds up to quite a bit.

Week 3: Menu

After a long weekend, it always takes me a while to get back into the swing of things, so this week has been a little helter skelter. Anyways, when I was shopping last week, I ran into a friend who asked how the challenge was going and said something to the effect of, “are you eating, like, good food?” So I thought I’d continue to share our menu so you all know we’re not starving or eating gruel or something. So here’s what we’ve had/will have this week from what I purchased last week…

Projects, projects and more projects

As usual, I have way more projects in the queue than I have time for, but here are a couple that I am currently working on.

The garden:

I planted the lettuce in the center. Apparently they’re out of spinach and they only had a very small selection of seeds left at this late date. Also, I staked the tomatoes so they will grow big and strong.
