Last night, it got down to like 18 degrees! Definitely makes me miss the awesome time we just had on our first vacation since our Honey Moon.
We’ve been saving up for a LONG time (6 years to be exact) to finally be able to do something with just the two of us. But we did it and were able to pay for it in full. From saving all my $3 Pine Cone surveys to opening a savings account to put away a meager $10 a month to finally working up to a percentage of Ansen’s freelance income that was significantly more (but obviously changes from month to month).
Here’s the cost break down:
Cruise Tickets: $847.94 ($423.97, which includes prepaid gratuities)
Passports: $220 ($110 each, but we won’t have to include next time)
Excursions: $249.96 (one for each of us at each port of call, booked through Carnival)
Cash for fun: $160
Extras (parking, gas to get there, food, etc): $353.91
Total: $1871.84
This is actually quite a bit more than we thought it would be, but we’re pretty sure that if we go again, we could definitely cut out some of the cost.
But this time it wasn’t so much about a budget vacation. It was about having an awesome time!
It was chilly when we left New Orleans Saturday afternoon. So the next morning, we get up and put on pants and long sleeves… only to find it was quite warm!
Monday, we stopped in sunny Progreso.
We took a very cool tour of Dzibilchaltun, the Mayan ruins about 20 minutes from the port. It was a quick drive and the tour guides were just outstanding. They were wealth of information and very interesting info too!
We also ate on the beach, a pretty special treat if you ask me!
Tuesday, we went to sunny Cozumel to do some clear bottom kayaking and snorkling. The tour guides were, again, phenomenal and did such an awesome job showing us some of the coolest fish we’ve ever seen.
Wednesday was another boat day, this time a little cooler… and then Thursday back on land exploring the very neat city of New Orleans.
Now that it’s back to freezing temperatures here… I am ready to get back on the boat!
