I realize that I am about to implement math into a second post in the span of but a few days…and I apologize. It’s not my nature. But I burnt my tongue eating pizza at dinner, and so I’m left with no choice.
I’ll give you a dollar if you can figure out how that relates to using math. (Hint: It doesn’t, so you’re not going to win a dollar. But my tongue feels all fuzzy and weird and it hurts and I don’t like it.)
So, like I was saying. Math. According to my calculations, I will be working approximately 40 hours per week for fourteen weeks at $7.00 per hour, so I’m going to make $3920 at Sports Center this summer. However, $644 of that will be witheld b/c of taxes. Which leaves me at $3276. At Office Depot, I will be working approximately 15 hours per week for twelve weeks at $7.00 per hour, so I’ll make $1260. Minus taxes, that’s $1053.
That makes my income for the summer $4973. With the $300 I already have in my bank account and the $700 I have in my JBU account, that gives me a total balance of $5973. It’ll actually be a little less than that because of things like sick days, rain days at SC, tithing, random expenses, etc.
SO, the good news is basically I’ll have around $5500 to put towards next years schooling, so I’m definitely good for next semester. The bad news is I’m still short $3500+ dollars for the year. And even if I got the extra $3500 somehow, that would give me $0 for living expenses. And while I have a good knack for conserving money and/or being cheap (depending on how you want to word it), living on nothing won’t work well.
Anyways. It’s gonna be really tough. Buuut I think I’ll be able to pull it off…with some help from parents, others…and especially God. It’s gonna be tight, but I’m excited, because now it at least looks possible. A month or two ago I would have told you coming up with $9000 this summer couldn’t be done.
God’s has proved me wrong alot before. I’m praying He’ll do it again. :)
See. I knew you could do it. God will pull through for you too. He is you provider.
Dang. It’s a good thing you took that quantative literacy class, or you would be NO PLACE! I really hope things work out for that second semester. I shall pray. If we ever (by any chance) go and see a dollar movie this summer I will pay your way. Seriously. Not even kidding. That’s how good of a friend I am- Abe
