I think I’ve discovered one of the major reasons why I like college so much.
It’s unpredictable.
Sure you have a schedule and things you have to do daily or weekly or bi-weekly or monthly or bi-monthly or once a semester or once a year or whatever, but almost every night…a certain conversation would pop up:
“Guys, what’re we gonna do tonight?”
“I dunno.”
“Ok.”
And it was ok to not know. We’ll just kinda…do whatever we feel like. Each day had its own surprises and twists. Even though there were planned things…the entire day wasn’t planned. We could go eat dinner whenever we wanted…then do homework or watch a movie or go to the park or do whatever. But here…it’s like…well…tomorrow I’m going to get up at 7:00, take a shower, eat, go to work at 8:00, work till 1:00 and then come home and eat, then go back at 2:00 and work till 6:00. Then I’m going to check my e-mail and chat on IM while I eat. Then I might play a little video games or something…then I’m going to go to bed and do it again.
The other thing I’m not a big fan of? No days off. At school you can always set yourself the short-term goal of getting to the weekend and getting a break. Working seven days a week…it’s pretty much one giant week that lasts until mid-August. Bleh.
News in my life? I might get to help lead worship at Matthew’s church on Wednesday…people need to learn to not lock their keys in their car late at night…and I start training at Office Depot tomorrow.
My advice for you? If you’re in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it’ll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.
Nice advice. I suppose it would work.
So… are you going to be doing worship at Matthew’s church often? ‘Cause that might be a good reason for me to come up in June. ;)
(to my above comment: besides your birthday)
I miss you. A lot.
