Short post tonight. I’m tired and I have to go to a wedding and go to work tomorrow.
I just got back from a concert with Tree63 and the Paul Coleman Trio. And some German guy with a crazy name that nobody knew.
So the German guy went first, and it was just him and his acoustic. He had some good songs, but I think a band behind him would have made them better. It was alright.
Then came the Paul Coleman Trio, which was actually a group of five because the German dude and the bass player from Tree 63 played with ’em. They were good. I didn’t know that he (Paul Coleman) was from Australia. Interestingly enough, none of the musicians that were on the stage tonight (from any of the bands) were from America. Nutty.
Finally came a short intermission and then Tree 63 (from South Africa). They were amazing. Especially their lead singer. He had a crazily awesome voice, and could hit notes in his chest voice that were so high you wanted to give him a standing ovation each time he hit them. And his guitar playing was amazing too. Tree 63 is only this guy, the bassist/backup vocalist, and a drummer. So he made the band. I need to learn how to play complicated rhythms and still sing at the same time. Anyway, they were awesome.
And of course I went with verrry cool people, so that made it all the better!
Till the ‘morrow next.
