The Nerd Gets The Girl

“We all need a hero. Courageous, self-sacrificing people. Setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names. And years later, they’ll tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them how to hold on a second longer. I believe there’s a hero in all of us that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams…”

“Kind of makes you mad not to know who you are? Your soul disappears, nothing is bad as uncertainty. Listen, maybe you’re not supposed to be climbing those walls? That’s why you keep falling. You’ll always have a choice Peter.”

Wow. I watched that movie tonight and I realized again how much I like it. Full of great quotes. Although…here’s the one that I find to be the most insightful:

Peter Parker: “Um, I don’t have time for girls right now.”
Harry Osbourne: “What are you!? Dead?!?”

Oh yes. It really is a great movie. Better than Skulls or whatever it was that Andrew wanted to watch. The action sequences are great, the self-turmoil about being Spiderman versus being Peter is great, and the whole Peter and Mary Jane thing is great too. If only all nerds could get the pretty girl…

But anyway, this evening went well. Me and some pals went bowling over at Gage, and it was pretty fun. Arielle got four strikes in her first game. I was impressed. Even though…I beat her!!! But anyway, Matthew and Sasha and Andrew were there and stuff, so it was a good time. But the Bayer’s dominated. We then came over here and watched the movie, along with Andrew hogging the popcorn.

I was asked today (in reference to my thoughts on vibrato in my last post), “Where do you come up with that stuff?” Just so you know…I guess I have a very odd mind. I’m sorry.

But as I glance over at the clock, I see that it is late. 1:05 to be exact. But I’m going to publish this like it was written a couple hours ago, so it’ll show up as Saturday. I’m such a cheater. But you didn’t know ok??

  1. I so did not hog the popcorn (it was the chips and salsa) and don’t knock THE Skulls (not Skulls) until you have seen it. It is an awesome movie and I would go so far as to say even better than Spider-Man II. Take that.
