Well, it’s Tuesday again, and you know what that means!!!

It’s time for The Funny Article of the Week that gets Shown Every Tuesday Day, brought to you buy your friends at State Farm Insurance. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

Ok…so there is no such a thing as The Funny Article of the Week that gets Shown Every Tuesday Day, but I really did find a funny article. Here’s the gist (you can read the full article here):

First-Grader Suspended Because Mom Wouldn’t Spank Him
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The mother of a 6-year-old boy who attended Schaumburg Christian School in Illinois said school officials suspended him from first grade Wednesday because she refused to spank him for disciplinary reasons.

Michelle Fallaw-Gabrielson said she was called to the school because her son, Chandler, was talking too much in class, chewing gum, and bringing toys to school.

[According to Fallaw-Gabrielson, the school administrator took her aside and told her she needed to spank her child to get him under control, or else they would suspend Chandler for one day.]

“At that point, my eyes filled with tears and I said, ‘I guess he’s just suspended for the day,'” she said. Fallaw-Gabrielson said she withdrew Chandler from the school the next day.

School officials defended the decision because parent-administered corporal punishment is clearly outlined in the school guidelines; something that parents must sign off on.

Wow.

“My eyes welled up with tears.” Shut up. Just…just stop talking. Bust out a paddle and give him a good one on his hindquarters for crying out loud.

Well…I don’t know about a school enforcing the types of discipline that should be used, but I don’t see why everyone makes such a fuss about spanking. I’ve been spanked before (not real recently though) and I’m not scarred for life or anything. Just whack the kid around a bit and get over it.

Ok…maybe not “whack the kid around”, but a good spanking probably isn’t a bad thing for a child to experience. I think it’s effective. It affected me, I know that. No way I was going to get all the band-aids out and stick them all over the bathroom wall again. Nope. I’d learned my lesson.

Anyway, this has been the The Funny Article of the Week that gets Shown Every Tuesday Day. Tune in next time. If there is one.
