Karaoke Party!

Today was awesome.

We had worship this morning, met in our small groups, I met some new people, all sorts of stuff. For dinner they had us sit with people from our own states. The Kansas people are a crazy crowd I tell you (not really). Texas and Oklahoma and Arkansas were the most rowdy. They were probably the largest groups as well.

So then I came back and played some Halo with Josh (one of my suite-mates). After that we had our all dorm meeting. Although the freshman are really the only ones here at this point so it wasn’t “really” all dorm. But we got told all the stuff we can and can’t do (like when girls can visit rooms, etc.). THEN came the real fun. We had a karaoke party in the J. Alvin (my dorm) atrium with everybody (about 350 people) there. Craig and Josh and I got up in front and sang “Dizzy” by the Goo Goo Dolls. It was pretty much amazing. The ladies are all up ons.

Andrew got up with some of his buds and sang Y.M.C.A. The musical talent wasn’t quite there, but it was absolutely and awesomely hilarious. All in all, it was a great time. Now I’m hanging out in the dorms, talking and hanging out and trying to avoid Andrew and his rugby buds who seem to be smashing each other into the walls.

Other news…I made it into the choir!! I didn’t even have to wait for postings, he just told me right after my audition that I was in as a Bass II (big surprise…not). It was kinda interesting though, because he was very, very critical. I guess he told Craig the same things (he got in as well) but he’d say things like, “You really need voice lessons,” or “You need to cut out on some of the higher parts until we can train you to put out the kind of vocal quality we’re looking for.” He’s pretty blunt, but it’s constructive criticism, and it’ll make me better, so it’s all good.

Anyway, I feel like I’m rambling a bit so I’m going to wind things down here. Craig and Josh and I were hoping that someone took a picture of us on stage but we haven’t found anything yet. I’ll keep you “posted”. Haha. I’m clever.

  1. Typical story, I guess. Lead singer of a band leaves the band to go out on their own music career. And the rest of the band is left sitting around watching “That Thing You Do” fifty times. Sigh.

  2. Watching “That Thing You Do” fifty times can’t be that bad….
