Today was great. It’s days like today when you really realize that God is in control of everything and he cares about us. When things just aren’t going your way, God is there to turn things around and encourage you.
Today was our first day of Spiritual Emphasis Week at school and Freelance was set to perform. However, Abe (I hope you start feeling better man, we need you!) wasn’t at school this morning. We were under the impression that he was coming at lunch, but we didn’t hear from him at all and it turned out he wasn’t coming. So people (namely me and Matthew) are freaking out, but Craig offers to give us a hand and decides to play with us for the day (blessing #1).
So we get out of class half an hour early (hehe, blessing #2) and head down to set up. First bad news is that two of the three microphone clips have been crushed under the weight of various items in the mess that is the tech closet. So we’re short a stand. Then we gather up all the microphone cords, but there’s only enough to get two of the mics all the way from the sound board in the music room to the stage. Meanwhile Craig (and later Ansen) is having a heck of a time getting the guitars tuned because…well…because it was just one of those days.
Well, Mrs. Green manages to find a few more cords for the mics, so we’re in business there (blessing #3). Then I glance at the clock. We only have about three minutes before everyone comes in. Everyone grabs instruments and we get ready to run through at least one song for Craig’s sake (he’s never played w/ us before).
But the microphones aren’t working. None of them. Oh! And we just remembered. We need some words up on the screen.
Now people are flipping out again (everyone) and other people (the audience) start to trickle in. The guitars are a lil out of tune, the microphones aren’t working, we haven’t made transparencies, our lead guitarist is sick, the replacement hasn’t played any of the songs, and the speakers are making weird and loud popping noises. “This does not look good for Homestar Runner.”
So Matthew is whacking the sound board as hard as he can trying to figure out what’s going on, and all the sudden Ashely hears her voice over the speakers (blessing #4) even though Matthew has no idea what he did. Meanwhile Ansen and Craig get ahold of the electric tuners and finally get things sounding good (blessing #5). Meanwhile Brittany and Mrs. C come flying back in with the transparencies (blessing #6) So, somewhat nervously, we start the first song, and things are sounding very good considering the fact that the band playing is only half of the original band (blessing #7). Freelance Remixed might not be the original, but it was better than anyone expected. And so we made it all the way through (blessing #8). I have no idea how, but we did.
Even though about five minutes before we were supposed to start it looked like things couldn’t get any worse, everything was turned around and it all came out pretty well. Now I don’t have to worry about the fact that my voice seems to be going away (*half-hearted smile*). If you’re ever stressed about something or things are just looking ugly, stick with it and trust God to get you through. He won’t disappoint.
May all the blessings flow
That run from heaven to here below
Refuge from your foes
Who cloud your hope, and chain your woes.
All the wealth and gold
And precious stones
Bow to the blessings
May all the love bestowed
From Jesus’ throne
Be now and forever yours.
Inspiring but totally devoid of humor……….I must remedy this tragedy.
There was once this guy who wanted to repaint his kitchen. He goes out and buys this super expensive paint. It looks great on the can, but not on the walls. The man is absolutely heartbroken so he tries to fix the problem with paint thinner. Obviously he only makes things worse. As he is sitting alone (and dateless) in his runny red kitchen he prays and asks for God’s help. He sits up and instantly gets the reply, “Repaint and Thin no More”. Thankyou and good night.
I must take credit for my joke

Good times. Do you feel “spiritually emphasized”? Blessings are so great.
By the way, you guys are slacking off on the “Ladies…the Secret is Out” page. You’re letting all of us girls that like to read it and make fun of it down.
