What’s the Deal with New Yorkers?

I’ve now read an article out of the New York Times and seen a special on CNN on how completely depressed all of these New Yorkers are that the majority of the country is REPUBLICAN! In the article, people in the midwestern states are nothing more than a bunch of “rednecks that shoot from the hip.” Also, God forbid that anyone from New York go to the midwest or even travel through it! After all, the midwest is “so 1950’s” and extremely “intolerant.” Paul Krugman of the New York Times says Bush is a radical with a radical agenda!

Ok citizens of New York (and New York Times columnists), I know it might be hard for you to swallow, but it’s not that weird that not everyone agrees with your ideas. YOU ARE THE MINORITY! Just look at the electoral map! What do you see? Red, red, red, red, red, blue, red, red, red, red, RED!!! How is Bush’s policy radical if the majority of the country likes it?? It is YOU Paul Krugman who is the radical. So stop whining and saying that your ideas are superior. Just get over the fact that the majority doesn’t agree with you. Go secede or move to Canada for all we care. Call us the “United States of Jesus”. I kinda like that name! Just because the majority of people in the U.S. actually still care about moral values shouldn’t be that big of a shocker.

Oh, just a bit of an aside here. You say you embrace tolerance. Well that’s great, just wonderful! So why is it that you are attacking (or to put that another way, not tolerating) the viewpoint of the majority of the country? I think you’re contradicting yourselves a bit.

You know, if you’re all so great up there in New York, then might I suggest that it’s a little below yourself to not recognize that: 1) You are NOT the majority. 2) You shouldn’t mope and whine like “girly-men” and talk of moving to Canada or Europe. 3) You shouldn’t degrade and insult the rest of your country by saying that you are morally, intellectually, and socially superior. It would make you all look a lot better if you would just shut up.

  1. I agree with the post but I don’t know about the media becoming conservative. Other than FOX, I think the media is as liberal as ever.

  2. I live in New York City and I saved that New York Times article because it was so incredibly offensive, and very funny for its local pandering.

This is supposed to be the top newspaper in the US, instead has become an example of the yellow journalism of the last century. Thi sis a apaper that has worked hard to make President Bush and ex-Mayor Guiliani look as bad as thy possibly can, so when their perfect canddiate, Kerry, loses, they presume everyone feels as the article portrays.

Really bad stuff, I agree with you totally. Don’t miss the fact that Republican votes went up even here in the City. Many people in NYC are as pompous as the article depicts, but thankfully not everyone!

  3. Hey PerfumeFactory, thanks for the comment. Obviously by addressing my post to all New Yorkers, I was generalizing a bit. I have a couple friends in New York, and they’re every bit as conservative as I am. It’s great to hear from a another New Yorker for Bush!
