Songs And Oscars, But No Comments

Well, I was going to post part of a kickin’ song that I co-wrote tonight…but it seems that Abe has beaten me to the punch. Instead of writing part of the song, I’ll write about that song – and then a plethora of other things. It’s really cool when a song sorta comes together in a matter of about ten minutes (fifteen if Kyle is singing into the microphone really loud while you’re trying to write it).

I think Abe and I have finally reached the understanding that I’ll handle writing the music and he’ll take over putting the words down. It seemed to work very well. However, some of my words actually did get worked into the song. Actually…that is only half true. I was saying something, and Abe thought I said something different, and he worked that into the song. However, this does mark the first time in history that some lyrics Kyle suggested were used. Never mind that it was only a couple words…

But on to other things. The Oscars. Yes I actually watched part of it. I just love watching the speeches of the people that win the worthless awards like makeup. They don’t even get to go up on stage, and they have about twenty seconds (or less) to do their speech. They get about halfway through and then the music starts playing and they move on. So funny.

As for movies/actors/actresses winning whatever they won, I can’t put forth much of an opionion. I haven’t seen The Aviator, I haven’t seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I haven’t seen Million Dollar Baby, and I haven’t seen Ray. And that pretty much covers it. The Incredibles won best Animated Feature, and I remember it being pretty funny, so that’s good I guess. If I’d criticize any of the awards, I’d criticize the “Best Orignial Song” or whatever it is. They could have chosen Counting Crow’s “Accidentally in Love” or something like that, but they decide to be politcally correct and go with “Al Otro Lado Del Rio” – making it the first non-english song to win the award. No offense to all you Hispanics out there, but I thought the song wasn’t really any good. But oh well.

Hmmm…now for something a bit different. Comments. Has anyone else noticed the drastic declines in comments recently? Maybe it’s just me. I know my quality level is probably decreasing daily, but it really seems that other blogs are experiencing drops in comments too. My overall hits are still pretty constant, I get about 25-35 unique views a day, but people seem to have lost their interest in commenting. Except for anonymous. Great advice on that last post, and no I won’t send God after you for your spelling…not sure where that came from.

But anyway, any ideas on why the comment levels seem to be going down? Some people’s still seem to be going at least average – Nathan’s, Thomas’, Jayne’s…but of course these people have spots in multiple social circles. Perhaps it is just me and Abe?? Eh…I just put him in a boat with me and that probably wasn’t very nice. But it wasn’t just me, he was talking about this just the other day. I feel sorry for myself…and I suppose him too. So I’m going to go comment on his blog now. I may have to comment on my own pretty soon too…I don’t want my self-esteem dropping too much.

  1. Maybe we’ll just have to comment on each other’s blogs all the time to keep our songs from getting too depressing. Fun at youth group tonight. Don’t worry… I won’t be depressed in the morning like I was last monday

  2. Well, thanks to Lindsay it seems that I’ve discovered at least part of the reason why my comments had dropped.

I had set the link to be a pop-up window, but didn’t think about the fact that any computer using pop-up blockers wouldn’t be able to leave comments. I have thus switched it back.

So, thankyou Lindsay, and now everyone, comment away.

  3. hey, that’s completely the reason why i haven’t been posting on your blog. anyway, i don’t really have anything to comment on, but it’s nice to actually be able to comment…
