Whirl Wind Weekend

So this weekend, we had quite a whirl wind! We went to Manhattan (Kansas… the Little Apple) for Ansen’s cousin’s wedding, with a little pitstop in Wichita on the way there and back.  This was Avie’s first trip! We left for Wichita Friday morning (4 hours in the car). Here are our babies in the back seat:

Our handsome driver:

And my comfy little spot where I can see the Avie-lator:

She did really well the first 3 1/2 hours… but that last 30 minutes was pretty rough. But we made it to Wichita! My parents weren’t there, but my grandma got to meet Avelea for the first time.

My aunt, uncle, cousin, other cousin, and cousin’s baby got to come hang out for a while. Chance is 8 months old and Avie is 2:

Saturday morning we got up and drove to Manhattan (2 hours in the car), where we got to hang out with Ansen’s grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousins and their spouses, and Ansen’s dad.

The wedding was fun! Cross word puzzles, word search, fabulous food, fun atmosphere and a beautiful, happy couple!

(I stole this picture from Maci’s Facebook, and you’ve got to love her purple heels!)

Saturday evening included a severe weather watch. My poor baby sister was home alone while a tornado passed through Wichita about 3 1/2 miles from my parents’ house. She was safe in the basement and ended up staying the rest of the night with my brother and sister-in-law, but still a little scary. Plenty of storm cells went around Manhattan, but nothing too serious where we were. Avie did spend the night in the safe room, just in case so we didn’t have to move her. Don’t freak out, the safe room was a HUGE closet in our room and the door was open.

Sunday morning we spent some time with the family before heading back to Wichita (2 hours in the car). My parents were back in town and we got to hang out with them.

Then, Monday we had to headed back to Siloam Springs (another 4 hours in the car). That trip was, again, about 30 minutes too long, as she had another melt down. But, spending a total of 12 hours in the car over a 4 day period, she didn’t do too bad for a 2 month old. Unfortunately, today we had a busy day. She really needed some extra rest, because she woke up on the wrong side of the crib this morning! But more about that tomorrow.
