Saturdays: The Good, The Bad, and The Boring

Why is it that during the week all I (and probably every other high school student for that matter) think about is the coming weekend? Why are Saturday’s so idolized? I’m always so excited that the next day is Saturday, but then it always comes, which makes me sad. Sometimes, my Saturdays are less fun than school days.

Now please, before you start throwing full wine bottles at your computer screen, let me offer this explanation:

Sometimes Saturdays are so boring. And boredom can really get you down if you know what I mean. Let me offer a quick run-through of my day as an example. I woke up at 12:30. Ok. So that was my morning. Glad I used that so well. Ok, so then I get up, and go eat a microwave ham & cheese pocket thing. Ok, so now I’m bored. Already. So I go sit at my computer and do nothing for a few hours, other than talk to random people about essentially nothing, strum on my guitar, and watch Homestar cartoons. Then I go sit at my TV and play Xbox for a while. Then back to my computer. Then some chips and salsa. Then more computer. And…nothing. I even had something to look forward to tonight and I was still unhappy (by the way even the “something” tonight fell through…)

Now, I’m not saying all Saturdays are bad. Some are quite enjoyable. But not those unproductive ones. At least at school I’m doing something, and there’s other people around.

I would have to say Sundays are definitely better. I get up in a timely manner (which, true, I don’t like while I’m getting up but I appreciate it later on in the day), get to see people at church (except for my two best friends, who seem to have abandoned me and Sunday School), have band practice (always a fun time), go to youth group (usually a fun time) , and then have some wind-down time after 7:00 (which provides some balance against the rest of the busy day). (I also take that time to contemplate how I should use parentheses after every single phrase in my blog.)

Argh. See, now it’s 10:41 and I haven’t really done anything all day long. But I suppose it’s ok, after all, tomorrow’s Sunday!

Don’t forget to sign up for the 1000th visitor sweepstakes! Yeah that’s right I’m talking to you. You know who you are. DO IT NOW!
