As usual, it’s been busy week. This week was the Pledge Drive for KLRC. (If you’re interested in reading more, you can check it out here.) Today, we went to a friends’ birthday party. The big kids were all in the bounce house… but she was pretty content in the “ball pit” (which was a kiddy pool with balls). How cool is that? And the balls even matched her shirt! Haha!
And aside from that, I’m trying to make use of the serger I borrowed from my wonderful mom-in-law. Unfortunately, it took me way to long to figure out what kind of machine it was. Nowhere on this tag does it say anything being a “White” brand… does it?
Anyway, after I finally figured out that we were working with a White 7423 machine, not a JCPenney 7423J, I could finally order some new blades from eBay. They’re currently on their way. In the mean time, I’ve been preparing to make leggings for my tall skinny baby girl. I could buy leggings for fairly cheap… but they always end up around her knees because of her long little legs.
First, I created a pattern as I found from Pinterest, originally from Make It and Love It. However, the leggings I chose to use as a template were not the same from the front to the back.
So I decided to make a full pattern rather than just folding the fabric in half and using a half pattern. The front is slightly narrower and the waist line is sloped down in the front (so it fits over those big diapers).
We used a wide variety of materials to cut leggings… a T-Shirt, some old, larger leggings, a stretchy skirt. Anyways, I have about 4 different pairs ready to be serged as soon as the blades show up in the mail.
I also made some adorable little shoes for the sweet girl out of some embossed felt. I’ve been eyeing these felt shoes from Pinterest for a while and finally made it to the felt section at JoAnn’s. Did you know they have embossed felt? With super cute/cool patterns? I mean, really! If I would have known that, I would have made these sooner. I think they were a little bit too small, so I’m going to make another pair a little bigger sometime next week.
Look! The sweet one is up on her knees! She’s almost crawling! I mean, she’s been army crawling since a couple of weekends ago, but she’s almost really crawling. She moved her knees a couple of times. Seriously, it’s not going to be long.
Next week: More sewing! Baby shoes and leggings! Oh, and I bought a twin needle for sewing side by side stitching on the leggings. I think I might be hooked…
