“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.” – C. S. Lewis

Tonight was hard. Saying goodbyes aren’t real fun. I’m so stoked about college, but at the same time I’m going to miss all my old buds so much!!

There’s my Town & Country Crowd – I’m going to miss hanging with all of you every Sunday!! Keep blogging, e-mail me, AIM, all that good stuff. You all have influenced my life in such a positive way it’s hard to describe.

David, you’ve become such a good friend, especially over this last year. I’m going to miss playing music with you and listening to your jokes. Stay cool! Jessica, I know you’re already at college (and without internet, so it may be a bit before you see this) but thanks for all of those AIM conversations that we had. You’ve always been so easy to talk to!! Sarah, I can’t say enough about how funny you are. Egyption Rat Kill tonight was awesome!! You’ve got reflexes like a cat! Tiffany, your blog is one of my favorites of all time! Keep writing, and keep Freelance’s reputation strong! Also, keep an eye on David for me…don’t let him get into too much trouble ;). Sasha (even though you might not read this – Tiffany can pass the word along), I can’t thank you enough for how great of a friend you’ve been to me. We’ve shared some pretty crazy moments! I’ll miss you incredibly! Rachel, have some deep conversations by the swings at camp next year for me! Jayne, thanks for still being my friend through everything that happened over the past what…eleven or so years!? Becky M., you are one of the sweetest and most kind girls I have ever met. Don’t change! And to all the rest of you I don’t have time to name, thanks for helping shape my life!

Then there’s all you other kids out there. Jonathan, Dana – I don’t know you two that well, but it’s kind of cool what blogging can do. I feel like I know all sorts of things about both of you now. Good luck in your future endeavors, and keep writing! Jess, thanks for the letter! It meant a lot! Enjoy your new college and home state (and Freelance CD)! Nathan, it’s going to be weird having Spanish class without you there. Good luck at KSU! Thomas, good luck at Pepperdine – keep the HP countdowns comin’. Shane, I’ll never forget all of the fun times we had in Junior High, have fun in New York! And Abe, thanks for being one of my closest friends over the past four years. Transfer to JBU next year! Andrew, I’m going to miss…oh wait. I’ll be seein’ you soon man.

And then there’s a few who I especially want to say bye to.

Arielle, I love you! No matter how many times I’ve pushed you or punched you or thrown stuff at you or called you fat (oh wait) I want you to know that I’ve always loved you. I will miss you greatly, but who knows? Maybe we’ll be seein’ more of each other in a couple of years??

Becky, thanks for making this summer unforgettable. I will never forget the times we had together. You are an amazing person. I mean you must be, after all, you got me to go on Cyclone Sam!! Good luck in KC, and keep in touch.

And finally, Matthew. Matthew, you are the best and truest friend that I have ever had. I don’t know how in the world I’m going to make through next schoolyear without you comin’ over and talking with me and playing video games with me. We’ve been through so much together, and I can’t believe we’ve actually reached the point we’ve talked about for so long. Work hard in school and don’t get into too much trouble with the ladyfolk this year. They flock to you like mosquitos man.

Peace, and I’m out.

  1. How sad, yet extremelly well said. Some of that I could just copy and paste when I have to say my goodbyes next year. But you’ve been a pretty amazing friend, man. Ever since the days of Jar Jar Binks court. And the Gnarly Waterfountain. And becoming a rockstar. And picking up all those hot tamalies.

    Here we go!

  2. Oh, and anyone who used a C.S. Lewis quote has got to be pretty amazing. Or at least have amazing friends. Like me.

  3. your blog continues to consistently entertain. thanks for the shout out. these little internet marvels are really going to be handy for keeping in touch.

  5. Ansen it was truly awesome to be in the same class as you. You made me laugh everyday, and i dont think that lunch time will ever be the same again. I am actuallly kind of mad at you…. you made me set really high standards for my friends! Im gonna miss you bud, and spanish class wont be nearly as entertaining. Good luck and try not to make too many friends, you have to study sometimes. Blogs rock.

  6. Now I’m thinking this post isn’t so good, even if it does use a C.S. Lewis quote. Mabye you just wrote it so everyone would comment telling you how nice and awesome you are. Like your own person morale boost.
